Ford’s commercial vehicles will see some serious upgrades for the 2017 model year. New Ford Transit options will include ergonomic enhancements, while the E-Series stripped chassis and cutaway models will be available with a 6.2-liter V8 engine.
Based on customer feedback, Ford has added more customization options to the Transit van series, so it now has a whopping 64 configuration options as opposed to 2016’s 58. Some of the improvements on the already class-leading Transit series are options for a low-profile center console, power running boards, and a standard 3.7-liter engine that lowers the base price.
The 2017 Transit will also have various ergonomic upgrades to make operating electronic equipment and other features easier for the driver. A lower center console makes it easier to install computers and walk between the front and back of the cab. The Transit Connect gets plenty of tech upgrades this year, including SYNC 3, the most advanced Ford infotainment technology yet.
The E-Series’ new V8 engine has previously been used successfully Ford’s F-Series Super Duty trucks and has flex-fuel capabilities, so it can accept different kinds of fuel.
