Moving Towards SUVs
Ford Motor Company made waves this year when company representatives announced plans to do away with all passenger cars (except, of course, the iconic Mustang) in favor of pursuing industry trends towards SUVs and crossovers. Now that Ford is reporting record SUV sales for October 2018, that strategy seems to be working – or, at least, a sign that the company is making smart business decisions.
Explorer & Expedition
Overall SUV sales were up 7.9 percent in October. In the past month, the Ford Expedition saw 74.7 percent gain over the same period in 2017 thanks to the release of an all-new generation of the vehicle. The Ford Explorer saw a jump as well, celebrating its best year since 2004 with over 19,000 vehicles sold and a 12.5 percent increase over last year.
Record SUV Sales
With over 150,900 units sold in 2018 in total, Ford continues to be America’s best-selling automobile brand. Besides SUVs, Ford Motor Company saw the Ford Mustang continue to lead the sports car segment, while its pickup trucks and vans also saw sales increases for the year.
