Thanksgiving is incredibly close now, which means that if you had plans to travel and aren’t already on the way, you’re probably leaving soon. Traveling during the holidays can be stressful, especially when Thanksgiving is the busiest travel holiday of the year. The airline industry and AAA expect more travels than ever this year. Here are some Thanksgiving travel tips from us at Two Rivers Ford designed to help you reach your destination without a hitch!
- Attitude – Before you head out the door, make a note to keep your attitude in check. Everyone is traveling, which means that tension will be running high. Avoid conflict and taking out your stress on others. It could lead to a very bad reaction from other travelers. Don’t let your attitude ruin your trip!
- Social Media – Many airlines report problems on social media before any other method of communication. Keep your smartphone handy and follow your airline on Twitter. Save yourself some time and keep an eye on the feed rather than bugging a flight attendant.
- Luggage – Before you head out the door, make sure you have everything you need. More importantly, make sure you don’t take anything that won’t be a necessity on the trip. Less luggage means less hassle and you won’t have to pay any of those hefty baggage fees.
There is nothing better than being on the open road surrounded by incredible natural beauty. Tennessee is one of the few states in America where you simply can’t avoid seeing beautiful nature. Here are some of the best road trips in Tennessee.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
No list about drives in Tennessee is complete without the Smoky Mountains. Get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and into some of the most beautiful mountains in the country.
Tennessee River Gorge: Chattanooga Loop
This is a 126-mile loop of pure beauty. From Signal Mountain to the Tennessee River, there is always something amazing to look at.
Shiloh: Natchez Trace State Park to Shiloh Battlefield
Not only is this an amazing drive with plenty to see, but it’s also a lesson in history. The 106-mile drive passes through the famous Shiloh Battlefield.
Antebellum Trail: Nashville to Mount Pleasant
Another amazing trip through history, this 78-mile drive passes by historical mansions, vast farms, and significant Civil War landmarks.
Cumberland River: Nashville to Land Between the Lakes
Starting in one of the most fun cities in the entire country, this 110-mile drive follows the Cumberland River and ends at one of the most beautiful areas in the entire state: Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
Get outside, and explore all that Tennessee has to offer. There’s nothing wrong with being a tourist in your own state.
Now that school is back in session, you are sharing the road with more drivers, school buses, and children riding bikes or walking to school. With this in mind, it’s a good time for some back to school driving tips.
- Never pass a bus that is stopped to load or unload children. This is illegal in all 50 states. Remember, a child’s life is more important than a few minutes of your time.
- Always allow a greater following distance for a school bus than you would for a regular vehicle.
- Do not block crosswalks while stopped. This forces children to go around you and could put them in potential danger.
- Always stop for a school crossing guard—do not go around their stop sign or flag.
- Do not honk your horn or rev your engine to scare pedestrians.
- Drive with extra caution through school zones.
If you are driving your kids to and from school, here are a few rules to remember.
- Do not double park. This could block visibility for children.
- Always load and unload children on the same side of the street as the school.
- Carpool, if possible, to reduce the number of cars at the school.
We hope you and your children have a safe and fun school year!
Iconic, powerful, nimble, and more fuel-efficient than ever—is there anything not to like about the new Ford Mustang? Even though the classic sports car isn’t entering a new generation for 2017, it’s just as packed with style, technology, and performance as you’d expect a brand new car to be. This includes features such as the latest version of Ford’s SYNC 3 technology, the Track Apps suite, and the acclaimed Shelby GT350 model in its lineup.
There are tons of different trims to choose from when it comes to the 2017 Mustang, with a choice of four different engines. Standard V6 models pump out 300 horsepower thanks to the 3.7-liter V6 engine. There’s also the choice of a 310-hp EcoBoost engine, a 5.0-liter V8 on GT models, and the range-topping, 526-hp V8 on Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R models. The engines are part of a nimble, performance-focused powertrain featuring an integral link independent rear suspension for a more responsive ride and rigid body.
The Track Apps suite, standard on all Mustang models, allows drivers to peek into the performance metrics of their vehicle. Electric Line Lock and Launch Control use high-tech safety features to add an extra layer of security to your more adventurous drives.
There are many more updates to the 2017 Ford Mustang that improve safety, performance, convenience, and comfort. With so many thrills to experience, why settle for anything less?
Here at Two Rivers Ford, we’re involved with numerous different organizations. Dianna Montgomery is a pro angler fisher who is part of a fishing team we sponsor.
Dianna is from Lebanon, Tennessee and has been fishing since she was a young girl with her father. She credits her father for her love of fishing. It wasn’t until she met her husband, Eric, that she found her passion for tournament fishing. Her first tournament was the Women’s Bassmaster Tour back in 2008. Since then, she’s made many friends and her knowledge of fishing continues to grow. We asked Dianna to answer a few questions for us to get to know her as more than just a great pro angler!
How long have you lived in Tennessee? I’ve lived in Tennessee my entire life.
What’s your favorite Middle Tennessee sports team? The Tennessee Titans!
Do you have a nick name? How did you get it? My nickname is Red. I got it because my hair is red.
Where’s your favorite place to fish? Kentucky Lake
What’s the biggest fish you’ve ever caught? The biggest fish I’ve ever caught was 9 pounds!
What do you like to do when you’re not fishing? When I’m not fishing, I’m working outside either in my flowers or in the garden with my husband, Eric.
Is there anything special we should know about you? I’ve been married for 10 years to Eric Montgomery and he is my favorite fishing partner. I have three sons: Chaz Montgomery, Jason and Austin Thompson. I also have 5 grandchildren: Dalton – 11, Cameron – 10, Elizabeth – 9, and identical twins Griffen and Fenton – 1. I love tournament fishing in a male dominant sport. I have learned a lot from them and have made a lot of great friends!
A new car is great but it’s even better if you have a trade-in to go along with it. Throughout the process of determining whether you need a new car, the question “why trade in my car” may have popped up a few times. Here at Two Rivers Ford, we have the answers you’re looking for.
Cars are lasting longer and longer thanks to advances in engineering, manufacturing, design, and materials. Eventually, the time will come when it’s time for a new car. One of the benefits of having a trade-in is that the value of that car can be negotiated separately or deducted from the new car’s price. The price you get for your trade-in can vary but to determine you trade-in car’s value, consult Kelley Blue Book.
Trading a car in for a new model at a dealership saves time and money. The other alternative to trading a car in at a dealership is to sell it privately. Depending on the car, price, and area you live, that could take months and that’s not time many drivers have to spare. To get a new car quickly, take your trade-in to the dealership and drive off the lot in a new car.
