Top Reasons to Buy a Used Truck

There may be no better type of vehicle to buy used than a truck. On top of all the usual perks of buying used, you get a few extra ones when you buy a used truck — and largely, it has to do with their dependability.

Trucks are more durable

Trucks like the Ford F-150 and Ford Ranger are built from the ground up to take punishment. Towing a few thousand pounds, or in the case of the Ford Super Duty®, tens of thousands of pounds, takes more than just a whole lot of power. It also requires an ultra-strong frame and some seriously robust powertrain components. As a result, trucks tend to remain in service for quite a long time, especially if you take good care of them. If you can find a pre-owned truck that was used for commuting more so than for work, you’ve got yourself a gem.

Trucks retain more value

Thanks to their popularity, reputation, and aforementioned durability, trucks also retain more value over time than your average vehicle. If your preferred vehicle shopping strategy is to buy used, sell in a few years, then rinse and repeat, you can get much greater value out of buying and selling trucks than other types of rides. Trucks keep their value better so that when you sell or trade them, you get more of your money back.

Ford Reveals Key Updates for 2022 Super Duty

The F-Series is America’s bestselling truck for 44 years, and Ford is aiming to extend that streak to 45 years and then some. Ford announced a host of updates for the new 2022 Super Duty, including new style options and a big addition in terms of tech.

Perhaps the biggest update coming to the 2022 Ford Super Duty is SYNC® 4 infotainment with a landscape-oriented 12-inch touch screen. Standard on the Super Duty Lariat and up, SYNC® 4 brings features like wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ as well as cloud-based connectivity.

“Super Duty customers aren’t just working harder these days, they are also working smarter,” said Todd Eckert, Ford Truck Group Marketing manager. “We’re further helping our customers raise their game and get the job done with purposeful technology through the introduction of SYNC 4 with a larger 12-inch screen and 24×7 cloud connectivity for both their truck and mobile devices.”

The 2022 Ford Super Duty lineup also gets updates in terms of looks with a pair of new packages. The Lariat Sport Appearance Package adds body-color bumpers, grille, and mirrors for a more unique look that contrasts sharply with the chrome exhaust tip and black running boards.

Ford is also offering up its Black Appearance Package on the Super Duty XLT. This popular option swaps in 20-inch Ebony Black-painted wheels, 6-inch Ebony Black running boards, and blacked out Blue Oval badges. The XLT Black Appearance Package launches in the fall.

Also new for 2022 is a Baja interior option for the Super Duty Lariat as well as Navy Pier and Light Slate interiors for the Super Duty Limited. Joining the lineup is a new Atlas Blue exterior color that makes the 2022 Super Duty pop even more.

Add all that to incredible performance and capability, including best-in-class maximum conventional towing and maximum payload capacity, and you’ve got a winner on your hands. Check out the new and improved 2022 Ford Super Duty when it arrives at Two Rivers Ford in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

Why Should I Buy a Truck Instead of a Car?

Pickup trucks are more appealing than ever, and they offer a wide range of advantages over sedans. If you’re on the hunt for a new ride and are thinking a pickup might be right for you, there are a few factors that could tip the scales toward a truck instead of a car.

More variety

Because cars are less popular these days, there aren’t as many new options as you’d find with trucks. Ford, for example, offers three great options: the midsize Ranger, full-size F-150, and heavy-duty Super Duty®. Ford will also be adding a smaller truck to the lineup in 2022 as well as an all-electric version of the F-150. While you can find quality pre-owned examples of cars like the Fusion at Two Rivers Ford, the only new car Ford offers is the Mustang. If you’re not looking for a sports car, a truck may be the better option.

You might think of trucks being mostly handy when it comes to towing, hauling, and off-roading. While that’s true, modern trucks can also prove superior choices if you’re looking for a family vehicle. The all-new 2021 Ford F-150, for example, offers spacious seating for up to six in its cozy interior as well as cutting-edge safety technologies. At higher trim levels, the F-150 even rivals luxury vehicles in terms of quality and tech.

The power to do more

Maybe the biggest advantage of owning a truck is what you can do with it. If you buy a truck instead of a car, you won’t have to worry as much about your trip to the hardware store or garden center. You can bank on your Ranger offering ample space in the bed for your cargo and delivering plenty of power to get where you’re going. Add the ability to tow trailers and boats to your vacation destination and impressive off-road abilities, and a Ford truck is plenty appealing if you lead an active lifestyle.

Need more convincing? You might just need to feel the difference. Check out the great selection of Ford trucks at Two Rivers Ford in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

John Barker of Two Rivers Ford Is Nominated for TIME Dealer of the Year

At Two Rivers Ford, we’re proud to announce that our very own John Barker has been nominated for the title of TIME Dealer of the Year.

Barker has nurtured a lifelong passion for cars, encouraged by his father, the previous owner of Two Rivers Ford. That supportive family environment and love for automobiles drove him onwards and upwards to success. After earning a degree at the University of Mississippi in Oxford in 1990, he began officially working at Two Rivers Ford in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

“Throughout my high school years, I was washing cars and working many other jobs around the dealership,” Barker said of his early career. “After Ole Miss, my father wanted me to learn every position of the dealership, from selling cars to working in the service department.”

This vast and varied knowledge of the dealership helped him rise through the ranks. He eventually became a sales manager and finance manager before earning his spot as a general manager by the time he was 30 years old. However, as his father aged, he and his father formed a plan to pass along the family business.

In true family business fashion, Barker’s son Matthew is now an active part of the dealership, serving as a sales manager and giving back to the local community with the “Drive the Music” fundraiser.

Two Rivers Ford also is proud to be a supporter of Susan G. Komen Central Tennessee and the local “Fill A Ford Toy Drive,” in association with the Nashville Metro Police Christmas Charities. And, the dealership is a partner of St. Jude Children’s research hospital.

Barker has also honed his leadership skills by serving on many boards, including the Tennessee Automotive Association, the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Commission, and Nashville Franchised Auto Dealers Association.

“I feel that all community involvement is important and impactful. We don’t do it for the recognition, we do it because it is close to the hearts of our employees and customers,” said Barker.

At Two Rivers Ford, we look forward to serving the Mount Juliet community for many years to come. If there’s any way we can assist you, be sure to give us a call.
